The Bot Personalizer allows you to customize your bot's username, profile picture, online status, activity type, and more. This feature provides greater personalization for your server's unique needs.
Please refer to the main MEE6 Support article for the most accurate and up to date information about setting a custom bot (Bot Personalizer):
https://help.mee6bot.com/en/support/solutions/articles/101000442591-how-to-set-up-mee6-custom-bot
1. Go to Discord's Developer Portal and Create an Application
Navigate to the Discord Developer Portal.
Click the "New Application" button.
Give a name to your application, agree with Discord policies, and press Create. (You can change the name of your bot at any time!)
2. IMPORTANT: Enable Intents
Go to the "Bot" tab of your application in the left sidebar.
Scroll down to the "Privileged Gateway Intents" section and enable:
Do NOT enable "Requires OAuth2 Code Grant".
3. Set Redirect URI
Go to the "OAuth2" tab of your application.
In the "Redirects" section, press the "Add Redirect" button.
Enter the following URI: https://mee6.xyz/custom-bot-auth
Press "Save Changes" at the bottom.
4. Get Your Tokens
On the "OAuth2" tab, press the "Reset Secret" button to get a new Client Secret. Authenticate your account if needed, and then copy the Client Secret.
On the "Bot" tab, press the "Reset Token" button to see your token. You will get a confirmation modal; press "Yes, do it!" and copy the token.
5. Set Up the Bot on the MEE6 Website
Go to the MEE6 Dashboard and open the Bot Personalizer plugin.
Check the 3 checkboxes confirming you have completed the previous steps.
Insert your tokens (Bot Token and Client Secret) and press “Enable Bot Personalizer”.
Authorize the Bot: Two Discord pop-up windows will appear. You must complete both authorizations to manage the bot and its slash commands.
6. Final Steps
The custom bot replaces MEE6. You can keep the original MEE6 bot in your server or kick it; all features now run through your custom bot.
Adjust Role Hierarchy: Ensure you move the custom bot's role to the top of the role list (Server Settings -> Roles) so it can fully operate.
Editing the Custom Bot
Customize your bot's settings directly from the Bot Personalizer Plugin on the dashboard:
Bot Name: Change the bot's username.
Bot Profile Picture: Upload a new profile picture.
Bot Banner: Upload a new banner.
Bot Status: Adjust the bot's status (Online, Do Not Disturb, Idle, or Invisible).
Activity Type: Choose from Playing, Streaming, Listening, or Competing.
Activity Text: Define the activity text, such as "Listening to /help."
Never share your bot token with anyone!
It is crucial to keep this token secure and confidential. Sharing it could compromise the security of your bot, so always ensure that it remains private and protected.

Basics and Features
Customizing the Backstory
Click "Backstory" in the menu.
Create a custom narrative to define your bot’s personality. Tailor it to a specific character or persona, or use the randomization feature for unexpected results.
Specify response permissions by selecting channels where the bot is allowed to reply. If no channels are selected, the bot can respond server-wide by default.
